Canning Town is CHAT's East London centre for veterinary care, rescue and rehoming. Working for us, as well as looking after owned pets, you will also have the opportunity to nurse abused and unwanted animals back to health and into new loving homes. You will also have an unrivalled opportunity to improve your skills, for as well as catering for people on low incomes we also accept referrals from many private vets, where the owners may have been faced with the option of euthanasia for their pet. With us you will work on a very wide range of medical and surgical cases including orthopaedic and referral level soft tissue surgeries. You must have very good Veterinary Nursing experience and, as with all our roles, we are looking for someone who is passionate about animal welfare. This is a real hands-on role using all your skills and training and you will not be expected to cover reception work. You will be fully involved with the animals and your initiative will be encouraged and valued. We are well equipped with X-ray, ultrasound, in-house lab, endoscopes etc. This is a permanent vacancy although we will consider candidates willing to work for a minimum of six months. You will work from Monday to Friday with weekends, evenings and nights covered on a rota basis. Salary is commensurate with experience. Accommodation may be available.
We have a vacancy for a Veterinary Surgeon at our Lewisham cat rescue centre situated at our veterinary clinic in S.E. London. This is a full time position Mon - Fri 9 a.m - 6 p.m with no OOH. Part -time / job share is also an option. Our Lewisham rescue centre is a temporary home at any one time to between 120 and 160 cats domestic and feral who all require health checks and veterinary attention including neutering, microchipping, vaccinations as well as treatment for any injuries or ailments prior to adoption. We are looking for a senior full time Veterinary Receptionist with a passion for animal welfare at our very busy Canning Town, East London Clinic. The role will cover Monday to Friday days. This is an exciting role which includes all the usual duties for a Veterinary Receptionist plus trying to ensure as many animals as possible receive veterinary treatment in these very challenging times. Working with us you can have a direct impact on the lives and welfare of animals in London many of whose owners are unable to afford private treatment and no longer qualify for treatment from the major charities. You will help to build good relationships with our clients, and deal with the vets diary management, booking in and general enquiries. You will be IT literate and a confident user of microsoft office and have good financial skills. You will complete daily banking and reconciliation with exempalary attention to detail and work well with the veterinary team. You will need to be helpful, polite and show empathy towards our clients whatever their circumstances but you will not be a push over as you may also have to deal assertively with some more challenging situations.
The clinic is very busy and we think it would be very difficult to carry out this role without previous experience working in a busy veterinary practice. Lewisham Rescue Centre Animal Welfare Officer - Vacancy
We have an exciting new vacancy for someone who is passionate about cats and animal welfare to come and join our team. The role will be varied and will include working in all three sectors of the rescue centre. Animal care: helping to look after our rescued cats whilst they await new homes, this will involve day to day feeding of cats, cleaning cat litter trays, socialising our shier cats, monitoring health and behaviour and admistering basic medications. Homing: assisting our homing team with introducing potential adopters to our cats and with home visits and delivering cats to their new homes. Rescue team assisiting with rescue work, collecting stray and unwanted cats, welfare visits and becoming trained with the skills required to be able to carry out TNR work - trapping feral cats for neutering.
Training will be provided but experience with cats and with working with the public in a variety of situations would be an advantage. You will need a full driving licence and feel confident driving one of our Charity vans mainly in South East London but at times further afield. We cover a 7 day week so the role will involve weekend and evening shifts.

Previous experience with cats is essential, this could be that you have your own rescued cats, or have volunteered for an animal rescue organisation or previously been employed working with cats. Although working with animals this role does involve a lot of interaction with members of the public and within the local community, therefore good communication skills, patience and understanding when working with a wide variety of different people is also very important.
The successful applicant needs to be a calm and patient person, a practical person who can work independently or as part of a team. Above all you must be dedicated to making a difference an improving the lives of suffering animals in the areas that C.H.A.T works in.

Our Animal Care Assistants are essential in ensuring the health, welfare and well-being of the animals in our Canning Town and Lewisham clinic- mainly cats and kittens. The role is mostly cleaning and feeding, may include some outdoor work and is physically demanding. The highest standards of cleaning are expected and also the ability and willingness to comply with rules concerning hygiene and disease control. You must have had experience of working in an animal rescue centre or sanctuary or veterinary clinic.
This role is 40 hours a week worked on 5 days out of seven, various shift times, according to a rota. This role is paid at minimum/living wage
