Lucky – the plight of an unneutered ‘tom’ cat

Poor Lucky was left behind in a garden with eleven other cats when a tenant moved out. A kind neighbour took on the task of feeding them all and noticed a terrible wound on Lucky’s neck, likely from a fight with another cat, as he hadn’t been neutered.

When we first learned about Lucky our rescue team stepped in to save this poor lad. However, when we arrived, he had wandered off. Determined to find him, we distributed flyers throughout the neighborhood and tirelessly searched for ten days. Finally, we found him, but his condition had worsened—the abscess on his neck was severely infected and he needed immediate surgery.

The vet informed us that it may take several surgeries to treat his wound and return him to good health. This brave boy has been through so much, and we want to give him the chance to live a pain-free, happy life. Unneutered male cats fight with each other over territories and female cats, once neutered their hormones settle and so does the urge to fight. Neutering a male cat is a simple procedure which helps to protect male cats from sustaining nasty fight and bite wounds.
