Abandoned kittens

Six kittens who are very small and very underweight were found in a dangerous situation on Burgess Road in E6. Brought to us by a local animal welfare group, the kittens were found placed curbside inside of a cardboard box by a London Borough worker during a rainstorm. These poor babies were cold and wet and covered in faeces. We hate to imagine what might have happened to them had they not been found.
The kittens appeared to be 4-5 weeks old and are being kept warm and safe at the home of one of our Lewisham team. The kittens are trying to eat, but are still very young and would normally still be mainly feeding from their mother so Lesley and her daughter are working around the clock to syringe feed all six kittens to ensure they get the proper nutrition.
We are very concerned about the mum of these babies. If she is not found, it is very likely she could become pregnant again within 7-10 days and repeat the entire cycle over again. Ideally, if we could find her, she would be able to finish rearing her kittens as they are very young and still in need of her care.

We put up posters in the area but sadly despite a couple of ‘tip-offs’ which proved to be inaccurate the mother of these kittens was not located.
