The power of a microchip

Reunited – thanks to her microchip….
We received a call from a car MOT garage in Plumstead in S.E London asking for help. A cat had walked into the garage the day before and settled herself down in a car seat. She seemed lethargic and didn’t want to leave, the mechanics at the garage were really worried about her.
Kelley from our Lewisham Rescue team collected the cat who was thin and a bit dehydrated. Once back at our clinic our vet staff administered some fluids and scanned her to check for a microchip, we were delighted to discover that she was indeed microchipped and we were able to contact her owners.
Lara a much loved 10 year old pet cat had been missing from Swindon for 3 months! Her owners were overjoyed and at first could not believe that they were hearing us say that we had her safely in our care.
Her owner came to London from Swindon today to collect her, it was a very emotional reunion with tears of joy. No one has any idea how Lara ended up in London but thank goodness that she was microchipped!

A reminder to cat owners from June 10th 2024 it is a legal requirement for pet cats over the age of 20 weeks to be microchipped. If your cat is not microchipped please contact your vet to book an appointment. We do also offer microchipping at our two London clinics for neutered cats for £11 for low income cat owners. If you need our help please contact our Lewisham clinic in S.E London on 020 8691 2100 or Canning Town clinic in East London on 020 7474 8811
