Gem & Diamond

A few months ago, our rescue team responded to a call for help. We were asked to assist with moving 12 cats to a new home, as their owner was unable to catch them.

When our team arrived, they were met with heartbreaking conditions. The house was virtually derelict, and the cats were living beneath the floorboards. It quickly became clear that there were far more than 12 cats. Once they were all safely caught, the total came to 24. None of them were neutered, and the overwhelming smell of urine and faeces was noticeable before the front door had even been opened.

Many of you may remember this story from our social media. It was a truly distressing situation that left these cats sick, traumatised, and in desperate need of care. Over the past few months, we have worked tirelessly to restore their health and begin their rehabilitation.

All of the cats are carriers of cat flu, which can flare up during times of stress. We are seeking indoor-only homes for them, in pairs, within adult-only households with no other pets.

Gem & Diamond are a gentle pair of girls looking for a calm, understanding home where they can continue to build their confidence together. Both can be nervous at first, but with patience and kindness they are beginning to show their sweet personalities more each day.

Gem is an affectionate girl with the gentlest nature. She has had a tough time in the shelter and suffers from cat flu, but despite everything she has been through, she still loves affection once she knows she is safe. She enjoys rolling around for head scratches, being brushed and even giving little headbutts. Gem can become nervous if approached too quickly, so she will need patient owners who can let her build trust in her own time.

Diamond is a calm, statuesque girl who prefers to quietly observe the world around her. She will often come out of her hiding place when it’s time to play, though otherwise she can be quite reserved. As she has grown more comfortable, Diamond has started seeking out affection in her own way, coming closer and sometimes tentatively joining in for fuss and attention. She is a lovely girl who will flourish in a peaceful home where she can continue gaining confidence at her own pace.
