Hitchcock, Jetta, Magic - Homed! Skully- Homed!

A group of young adult cats seeking new homes....

These young cats have come into our care after their owners failed to neuter their cats and so their cats bred out of control. Their neighbours concerned by the plight of the hungry cats and kittens visiting their gardens took on feeding them and we were contacted to help.

Last Summer our rescue staff had been neutering and returning the adult cats and rehoming kittens. Seventeen adult cats had to be returned due to lack of space at the centre but now neutered at least their numbers were no longer increasing.

Then over the last six months the two main residents who allowed the cats to have shelters in their gardens and fed the cats both unexpectedly passed away.  With no one else wanting to take over the cats care we have been bringing the cats back in to the rescue centre to seek permanent new homes.

We took in her own four middle aged pet cats who have now found new homes. The bigger challenge though is the future of the seventeen outdoor cats who relied on her.

We have so far taken in nine of the outdoor cats from this colony. They are now in our care receiving food, warmth and veterinary attention.   Some of the cats are very people friendly, others are slightly shier. Most of them were friendly with their main carer and they just need time to get to know and trust people. We are appealing for kind, patient adult homes to adopt these cats in pairs.

UPDATE 22nd MARCH: GOOD NEWS SKULLY AND MAGIC HAVE FOUND A NEW HOME!

ADOPTION PROCESS:

Because our cats are rescued we do like to meet potential adopters this can either be at your home (home visit) or via a video call e.g WhatsApp this is an informal visit to provide advice about caring for cats or kittens e.g health care, feeding, settling in and also an opportunity for us to feel reassured that you could provide a good home.

Following a successful home assessment we can make an appointment for you to come and meet our cats.

We are prioritising homes that are local to our centres. Lewisham Branch Homing catchment area: All SE London and BR (Bromley) postcodes. Also N.Kent (Welling, Bexley, Sidcup, Swanley, Dartford), Croydon and SW London (SW8, SW9, SW2, SW11, SW4, SW12, SW16) If you can offer a home to a 'harder to rehome' cat we will consider homes outside our usual rehoming areas.

Our Rescue Centre reception is also open every Saturday and Sunday afternoon between 1p.m and 5p.m for potential adopters to drop in to meet us for an initial chat about adopting one or more of our cats.
