Candy and son

Candy and her seven kittens have been cared for in one of our foster homes.

Candy came into us as a stray with her five new born kittens.  The family were placed in one of our foster homes and then Candy took on two extra kittens, a pair of ginger kittens who had been abandoned at about a week old in a cardboard box on someone's doorstep.

"Mum is Candy and she is friendly, but with a slightly defensive edge. A lot of it is protecting the kittens as she’s straight there if they squeak but some of it is just her. 90% of the time she wants head rubs, but if she is worried she can be a bit swipey, hopefully in time she will become more relaxed.

Candy's kittens are healthy and confident.  The two ginger boys are orphans who were found in a cardboard box on a doorstep at a week old and have been added to Candy's litter. They’re about a week older but are smaller. They’re both very confident and will plonk themselves in your lap, climb all over you and follow you around.

UPDATE 7th AUGUST: GOOD NEWS SIX KITTENS HAVE NOW FOUND A NEW HOME IN PAIRS.  Candy and her short haired grey male kitten are still seeking a new home together.

ADOPTION PROCESS:

Because our cats are rescued we do like to meet potential adopters this can either be at your home (home visit) or via a video call e.g WhatsApp this is an informal visit to provide advice about caring for cats or kittens e.g health care, feeding, settling in and also an opportunity for us to feel reassured that you could provide a good home.

Following a successful home assessment we can make an appointment for you to come and meet our cats.

We are prioritising homes that are local to our centres. Lewisham Branch Homing catchment area: All SE London and BR (Bromley) postcodes. Also N.Kent (Welling, Bexley, Sidcup, Swanley, Dartford), Croydon and SW London (SW8, SW9, SW2, SW11, SW4, SW12, SW16) If you can offer a home to a 'harder to rehome' cat we will consider homes outside our usual rehoming areas.

Our Rescue Centre reception is also open every Saturday and Sunday afternoon between 1p.m and 5p.m for potential adopters to drop in to meet us for an initial chat about adopting one or more of our cats.
