Opal and Amber

I’m neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, and have undergone a complete health check, so you can adopt me with full peace of mind.

Opal and Amber

A few months ago, our rescue team responded to a call for help. We were asked to assist with moving 12 cats to a new home, as their owner was unable to catch them.

When our team arrived, they were met with heartbreaking conditions. The house was virtually derelict, and the cats were living beneath the floorboards. It quickly became clear that there were far more than 12 cats. Once they were all safely caught, the total came to 24. None of them were neutered, and the overwhelming smell of urine and faeces was noticeable before the front door had even been opened.

Many of you may remember this story from our social media. It was a truly distressing situation that left these cats sick, traumatised, and in desperate need of care. Over the past few months, we have worked tirelessly to restore their health and begin their rehabilitation.

All of the cats are carriers of cat flu, which can flare up during times of stress. We are seeking indoor-only homes for them, in pairs, within adult-only households with no other pets.

Opal & Amber are a lovely pair of related girls with very different personalities that complement each other beautifully.

Opal is a curious and playful girl who likes to keep an eye on everything going on around her. She can be a little nervous at first and may hide when someone enters the pen, but toys are the quickest way to win her over. Once she feels safe and comfortable, her affectionate side shines through — rolling around, purring happily, and even climbing onto laps for cuddles. Opal can become overwhelmed if there is too much going on, so needs someone who can give her the time she needs to settle into a new home.

Amber is the confident one of the pair and is usually the first to greet you at the door. Friendly, affectionate, and charming, she loves being involved in whatever you’re doing and has a wonderfully sweet nature. Amber enjoys playing with toys and brings a fun, loving energy wherever she goes. Amber has a birth defect which means one of her eyes did not develop correctly. She still has some vision in that eye, but it is reduced.
