Give a gift to our rescued cats and kittens
Through our Amazon Wish List you can buy food, bedding and toys for our animals and have them sent to our centres directly!
We have been overwhelmed by the generous donations sent via our Amazon Wish List to date – the food, bedding and toys make such a difference to the animals in our care, and provide a real boost for staff and volunteers across the charity.
However, with demand only increasing, we are in constant need of more supplies at all of our centres. You can help by sending gifts via our Wish List to our Animal Sanctuary in Brede (near Hastings) or either of our two London rescue centres, Lewisham or Canning Town.
This is a fantastic way to make our animals' stay with us even more comfortable.
P.S. Please email us to tell us what you've purchased so that we can thank you for your donation – your details are not always printed on the packing slip!
Buy and sell on eBay
We have recently set up our eBay shop, through which we sell some of the goods that have been kindly donated by our wonderful supporters.
We often have a wide range of goodies for sale, so please visit our eBay for Charity page to grab yourself a bargain!
100% of the final sale price on all of our eBay items benefit the rescued cats and kittens under our care.
Alternatively, why not sell your unwanted items on eBay and support CHAT in the process? You can choose to donate between 10% and 100% of any item you sell, which goes a long way towards helping animals in need.

Maria is taking on the challenge of a lifetime to raise vital funds!
We would like to say a huge thank you to Maria, who is taking on a massive challenge next year in the hope of raising as many vital funds as possible for our rescued cats and kittens!
In May 2016, Maria will travel to the USA to embark on a 5-day, 48-mile trek in the Grand Canyon. The trek is completely self funded, so all money raised will go to charity.
Maria was inspired to raise much-needed funds for CHAT after adopting two lovely cats from our Greenacres Rehoming Centre and Sanctuary in East Sussex. Lily and Luna (pictured) were rescued by our team with their mum and blind dad, and were still really shy when Maria adopted them as young adults. It’s lovely to see them doing so well.
Maria says: “In 2013, one of my friends was a cat fosterer for the Hastings Branch of Celia Hammond Animal Trust. One evening I went to visit my friend and meet the cats she was fostering at the time, a pair of sisters called Lily and Luna. Lily and Luna were two years old and had spent most of their lives at the CHAT Sanctuary, so my friend was helping to socialise them and bring them out of themselves so they could be put up for adoption.
The moment I saw Lily and Luna (pictured), I thought they were so sweet and I felt I could give them a forever home. I had my husband Ryan come and meet them and as he loves cats as much as I do, and it didn't take much to convince him that we should adopt them. We adopted Lily and Luna in August 2013 and they came to live with us and our other two cats, Gambit and Rogue. Two years later - with some hard work and patience - Lily and Luna now come up for fussing and cuddles and are generally quite chilled out. They are also very vocal at meal times!
They generally get along well with Gambit and Rogue and quite often they are all chasing each other around the house. Luna does still gets a little scared at sudden noises, particularly the doorbell, but she doesn’t hide under the sofa as much as she used to, whereas Lily is a bit braver than her sister as only the hoover seems to bother her. The cats bring us such love and joy that - as challenging it can be having four of them – we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
If you would like to sponsor Maria’s amazing challenge, please donate via her JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/Maria-Blacklock2/
Thank you all so much. Good luck in training, Maria!
Please support our Challenge Event participants!
We are very lucky to have several wonderful supporters who are taking part in a challenge event and raising money for CHAT this year!
Please click on the links to their online fundraising pages below to read their stories, and sponsor them if you can! Your support will really spur them on, and every penny you donate will truly benefit animals in need.
The majority of our income is thanks to our supporters who have generously left a gift to the charity in their Will. These gifts allow us to continue our vital work, purchase essential equipment and undertake new projects which we may not have otherwise been able to do.
Leaving a legacy will ensure that abandoned cats & kittens continue to benefit from your kindness, even after you’ve gone. It will cost you nothing in your lifetime and all gifts – however large or small – are sure to have a lasting impact and ensure that we can always be here to help animals in need.
Celia Hammond Animal Trust strongly recommend that you speak with a solicitor when seeking to update your Will.
Your solicitor will need the following contact information when including Celia Hammond Animal Trust in your Will:
Charity name: Celia Hammond Animal Trust
Contact telephone number: 01892 783367
Head Office address: High Street, Wadhurst, East Sussex TN5 6AG
Registered charity number: 293787
Our volunteers are an invaluable part of the charity - we simply could not carry out our vital work without them.
We have a range of volunteering opportunities on offer - feeding and cleaning animals, fundraising, fostering animals, charity shop volunteers (Wadhurst only), home visiting, leaflet & poster design, and transporting animals.
We are seeking regular, reliable volunteers to assist with caring for our rescued cats. It is hard work but enjoyable - cleaning litter trays, cattery pens and cages, feeding the cats and a bit of playing with the cats as you work.
There are various shifts available - mornings, afternoons and evenings. For insurance reasons volunteers do need to be min age 18.
We also need foster carers at all of our branches - See our Fostering Appeal page for more information).
If you'd like to volunteer, please tell us how you would like to help using the form below.
Whether you would like to remember a much-loved human or feline companion, choosing to donate In Memory of someone special is a lovely way to ensure that their memory lives on, even after they have gone.
