Izzy and Travis are a very special pair of 10-year-old neutered cats who are looking for a permanent foster home.

Izzy came into the shelter in a very bad way and was terrified of people. She got checked by the vet and she was in need of a dental, they also tested her for calicivirus which she came back positive for. We decide to put her into a foster home as soon after her dental so, she could feel safe and get used to people again.

Travis got brought into the shelter after living on the streets for years, he was also in need of a dental. During the dental he was tested for FIV and calicivirus, he came back positive for both. Travis was put into foster care with Izzy so he could recover from his dental.

At the foster home the two quickly became an unlikely pair. Izzy fell in a love with Travis and found her voice with him. She saw how Travis trusted people and slowly became less scared of humans, Izzy would follow Travis around the flat, while Travis was more interested in finding food. They have formed a lovely bond and need to be homed together.

Health:

Travis has calicivirus, feline immunodeficiency virus and diabetes. He is currently on insulin injections twice a day and special diabetes food.

Izzy has calicivirus and kidney disease, her kidney disease is managed by special renal food which she loves.

An indoor only home that can travel to one of the Celia Hammond veterinary practices is required as part of our long term fostering support. Being indoors only will prevent their health from worsening and help them to thrive. We understand that these are two hard to home cats and we you will have full support from our head of fostering and the shelter.

Travis is a very handsome, patient and gentle boy who really loves his food and adores having human cuddles. He pretends not to notice Izzy when she chirrups at him or rubs up against him but that’s all for show and he secretly loves his Izzy back. Travis will let you pick him up and cuddle him for a while but he does let you know when he has had enough. He is a very relaxed cat, he was stray for a long time and fed by local people but has been someones cat in the past as he responds so well to human love and affection.

Izzy is a very sweet but shy girl who is beginning to enjoy human attention and likes to sit next to you on the sofa. She is a quiet girl who loves to find a comfy spot to snooze for most of the day. The only time you will hear her is when she is snoring gently, or when she says hello to Travis, who she loves! Travis has transformed Izzy and made her extremely happy. Izzy doesn’t like being picked up but in time she will let you stroke her - but only on her terms. Izzy will let you know if she is feeling scared by swatting you or hissing. She isn’t aggressive, this is just her way of communicating that she needs some space as she was stray and alone for a long time and life was unkind to her.   If you can be patient with Izzy she will eventually come to you and show you what a sweetie she really is!
