Duchess is a young female cat who came to us as a shy stray with her kitten Duke. We noticed a discolouration in Duchess' left eye which led us to do some blood tests. She has tested positive for Feline coronavirus (FCoV). Many cats have a FCoV blood titre and carry the virus without any issues, this titre (count) can go up and then come down and can become zero but in a very small percentage of cats the virus can develop into feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) which is fatal. Duchess and Duke are otherwise in good health but as this virus is contagious Duchess and her now adolescent son Duke are seeking an indoor home without any other feline companions
These two very special cats need experienced and understanding owners who will give them a chance to enjoy the life they deserve. They are seeking an adult indoor only home or a home with a secure cat proofed garden and cannot live with other cats
Duchess is still a little nervous and growls when first approached. She will need lots of patience but she is improving and loves being stroked. Duke is very sweet and is desperate to play. Initially a little unsure he is soon overcome by curiosity.
