Adopt Feral Cats

We urgently need homes for our rescued feral and semi-feral cats on stables, farms and smallholdings
feral cats

we have been granted planning permission to build a new cattery at our Lewisham centre

The cost of the new building is £1,000,000 which we are intending to fund in part from legacy income but do also need to fundraise a significant amount. Provided we have sufficient funding the anticipated start date is June 2024 with a 9-12 months construction time. The pace of progress though will be reliant on having sufficient funding at each stage and we need to successfully raise a significant sum of money during financially challenging times.

Please help to support us. Anything you can give will help us on this journey, no matter how big or small.

Tiger is our ⚡️Top Priority⚡️as a Cat who has been Overlooked, Please ShareThis poor boy is 5 year old Tiger. He has had a really tough couple of years at our Canning Town Centre without anyone interested in adopting him.🥺 He is in desperate need of an understanding new home to give him the love he deserves.Tiger is very sweet boy who loves a fuss, and when he isn’t hunting around for food, he is eagerly perched next to us in a bid for attention.Tiger has had some trouble with constipation and needs medication for the rest of his life to help this issue. He is very good at having both medications administered in his food; one is a tablet called Cisapride and the other is a liquid called Lactulose. Tiger will be adopted as a "permanent foster," so any vet checks required due to his constipation will be provided by us at our Canning Town vet clinic. Our beautiful Tiger has an adorable personality and will be a committed sofa cat when he gets into a new home. This boy will always keep you company in the kitchen and cuddle right up with you at night.Tiger is seeking an indoor only home and will require an adult home where he is the only cat and there are no dogs. Please email HelloAdoptions@celiahammond.org with your name, address and contact phone number to register your interest in Tiger. ❤️ Also please confirm you can provide for his specifications below. ⬇️ ✅ I need an adult only home.✅ I cannot live with dogs.✅ I cannot live with other cats.✅ I need an indoor home.✅ I am 5 years old.✅ I am a neutered male. Our cats are rescues, that have either been abandoned, stray, neglected or abused. All homes need to have a home check either by video call or in person and we will provide advice about caring for cats or kittens. This is also a chance for us to see what type of home you can offer to one of our cats and to best match a cat with your home and family.Following a successful home visit, we will make an appointment for you to come and meet the cats at the shelter and adopt. If you have picked cat/s from the website, you will meet them on adoption day.We are prioritising homes that are local to our centre and these are the Canning Town catchment areas: East London, parts of North London and parts of West Essex. If you can offer a home to a harder to home cat, we will consider a home outside these areas. ... Thrown away like rubbish, three cats found struggling inside a Marks and Spencer cooler bag. 💛Safe with us now💛Recently, a heartbreaking incident occurred in Bellingham Park that has left us shocked and deeply concerned, our vet nursing assistant, Lisa, was out walking her dog when she noticed a man struggling to carry a heavy Marks and Spencer zipped cooler bag. Her suspicions were raised as she watched him lift the bag into a bin. When Lisa called out to him, "Hey, wait a minute!" he ran off, leaving the bag behind. What she found inside was horrifying: three cats approximately five months old, tightly packed into the cooler bag, barely able to move and likely struggling to breath. If Lisa hadn't been there at that exact moment, these cats would have been left to a horrible fate, discarded like rubbish.Disturbingly, this isn’t the first time Lisa has witnessed such cruelty. Not long ago she discovered another cat being discarded in a similar fashion in the same park. How have we reached a point where disposing of animals in this way has become so alarmingly common? These three cats thankfully are now safe in our care at our Lewisham Centre but we still urgently need your help as these poor cats are not alone—hundreds of other animals at our centres are depending on us too, waiting for their chance at a better life. We need your support to continue our work. Your donation will help us provide the care these cats desperately need and ensure they find the loving homes they deserve. Our centres remain at full capacity and without you, we simply can’t continue to save lives. Please, if you can, make a donation by clicking the link below or tapping the donate button attached to this post. ❤️‍🩹A heartbreaking case that underscores the alarming aggression we’re encountering. Recently, a poor cat, whom we've named Cheeky was found in a severely distressed state, presumed to have been a victim of a road traffic accident. In our constant battle to care for these vulnerable animals, we urged the member of the public who found him to take him to the nearest vet clinic for an initial consultation and to check if he was chipped, as we are currently stretched to capacity with very few vets available.Tragically, this person responded not with compassion, but with a threat—stating that they would kill the cat with a hammer if we didn’t take him immediately. With no other option and despite being overrun with cases, we acted swiftly to save this poor soul, knowing that his life was hanging by a thread.🙏🏼Click to donate⤵️cafdonate.cafonline.org/26548Upon examination, we discovered that Cheeky had suffered severe injuries—his jaw was broken in two places. It was immediately clear that this was either the result of a horrific RTA or something even worse. Regardless of the cause, we could not stand by and do nothing. We arranged for emergency surgery at our Lewisham Clinic to repair his jaw, giving him a fighting chance at survival. However, the reality is that we are completely overwhelmed. Animals are coming in at higher rates than ever before, and our resources—both financial and physical—are stretched to the breaking point. Despite our best efforts, we cannot do this alone. We need your help to cover the costs of the emergency surgery and ongoing care for Cheeky and hundreds of other cats just like him who are fighting to survive. This case is not just about one cat—it is a reflection of the growing challenges we face as more animals are in desperate need of help, and fewer resources are available to provide it. The levels of disregard for life we are encountering is deeply concerning and adds to the urgency of our mission. Please, if you can, contribute to Cheeky's recovery by clicking the link below or the button attached to this post. cafdonate.cafonline.org/26548Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference in his life and allow us to continue our vital work. Together, we can ensure that Cheeky and others like him get the second chance they deserve.🙏🏼Thank you for your compassion and support during these challenging times. We are forever grateful to our loyal supporters. ... See MoreSee Less

❤️New arrival! Wallace ❤️Update: FOSTERED 🐾This adorable, 12 year old gentleman was brought to our Greenacres Centre by the neighbour of his previous owner, after they had to move away and had been unable to take him with them. They were providing food for the neighbours to feed him and the neighbour was letting him sleep in their shed and were doing their best to keep him safe and sheltered but clearly this was far from ideal and this had been his existence for the past year.It turns out the person who left him wasn't actually his owner either and in fact they had taken on feeding him after someone else in the area moved away and abandoned him...it just breaks our hearts to know he has has been left repeatedly and how long it must have been since he has known the love and comfort of having his own home. You may think that a cat that has been through so much upheaval would be an aloof character or be a little grumpy but after 24 hours hiding up he has totally come out of his shell and is soooo loving and just purrs non stop. All he wants to do is have fuss and wash us...oh and he is beyond thrilled to get a brand new Yeowww catnip fish which is now very well licked! As well as arriving with a heavy flea burden and an old ear injury Wallace is in fairly urgent need of dental treatment and is due to have his surgery this coming week and, all being well, will be ready for a new home very soon. ❤️🐾A Second Chance at Sight and Love: Theo's Journey from Terrified to Thriving🐾❤️Theodor was reported to our Greenacres Centre as having " attacked" a child. We collected him and quickly discovered Theo had lost his vision and so clearly was terrified and lashed out. It was found he had high blood pressure (of an unknown cause), which isn't uncommon in cats and this had caused his sudden blindness. Happily with blood pressure medication his blindness was reversed and with ongoing care we hope he can enjoy a long and happy life. He found a wonderful home with Lee under our long term foster scheme. Lee shares his beautiful story...."I was looking for a companion for my 5-year-old cat Monty who was feeling a bit lonely after our beloved Arn crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We grieved and allowed some time to pass but we both knew in time that another cat in the household would be a welcome addition.I would always look at the cat home websites looking at all the cats I wanted to adopt however I always knew that the ideal cat would be an indoor cat who needed some assurance (just like Monty did). Then one day I saw him - I found Theo! Theo’s biography sounded like he had come from a difficult background however all I saw was a cat who needed some confidence and a new start.I decided to go meet Theo and being prepared I took a bag of Dreamies with me. Going inside his Pen to meet him Theo approached smelling the Dreamies in my pocket. I was amazed by the cat that I saw – his website Photo didn’t do him justice! I was greeted by a magnificent coat of fur and a friendly disposition. I knew straight away Theo was the cat.Theo has been and is an absolute joy. In the last 18 months his confidence has grown and he will now greet and expect pets from any house visitors. He has had a superb effect on Monty whoseconfidence has grown too. They love to play together whether it be tag, chasing the cat nip sock or simple moggy wrestling (Theo wins every time 😊).Theo has to take daily medication which he has become accustomed to and he likes to demand them first thing in the morning ideally coated in crab paste. Despite having some issues Theo takes everything in his stride and has a lovely pleasant approachable demeanour. We would like to thank everyone at Celia Hammond for their support and for bringing the 3 of us together. Thank you for my family." -Lee ... See MoreSee Less

"Percy (formerly Prosecco) was a rescue that needed a big operation when CHAT found him to keep him alive. We adopted him back in October of 2020.He came to us with information of him not being overly friendly and could lash out. Within days he settled in and is very friendly. He loves a fuss and loves playing with his toy mice. He is very much a part of the family. ❤️" -LauraDo you have a happy adoption story from Celia Hammond Animal Trust?
