Ebony and her kittens are currently being cared for in a foster home and will be ready for homes towards the end of March.
Ebony's six kittens were rescued at just 10 days old after they were discovered by council workers who were clearing rubbish and old furniture from the ground floor balconies of a block of flats in Stockwell. Ebony who is very shy had run off, our rescue staff waited for several hours but she did not reappear that evening. Her kittens had to be hand reared overnight and we returned the following day to try and catch mum. Fortunately mum had returned and was keen to be reunited with kittens so was caught fairly easily. The family are now being cared for in a foster home until the kittens are weaned and ready for homing.
We have had to assist with other stray adult cats and another two litters of kittens on this small housing estate - in total taking in 25 cats and kittens from this location - all the result of two households not neutering their cats! Some of the cats that were living outdoors had grown up without being handled and are semi-feral, Ebony is very shy and if she remains this way she will be reunited with the semi-feral adult members of her family and they will be rehomed together to suitable outdoor homes e.g farms, stables, smallholdings etc.
UPDATE 16TH MARCH: One pair of kittens have been chosen and another home are coming to meet another pair. So one pair still waiting for a home together.
